Jamaica 2008

For those of you who didn't know, I was able to be part of a mission trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica before I left San Diego. I, along with about 280 people, spent 10 days in Montego Bay doing various types of community service. We represented MilesAhead, a nonprofit organization dedicated to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. I was part of the medical team. We spent 3 days running medical clinics in various locations throughout Montego Bay. God used us not only to provide medical care, but spiritual care as well. This mission trip was amazing. God was truly present in Montego Bay. If an insurance company had charged for the medical care/medications we provided, it would have come to more than $4 million! The week of ministry projects ended with a huge Crusade at one of the local beaches. The Crusade was part of a 50th Anniversary celebration of a local Jamaican company, Jamaica Broilers. Jamaica Broilers wanted to celebrate their anniversary with free crusades throughout Jamaica. Pastor Miles McPherson was invited to speak at the crusade in Montego Bay. The 2 night crusade brought about 75,000 people out to hear Christian artists from Jamaica and America. The best part of the crusade was that thousands accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior or rededicated their life to Him. It was beautiful to have the opportunity to pray with the people and rejoice in their decision. There are countless stories of God using us to spread His Word...I wish I could share them all! What I also loved about this trip was that we truly connected with the Jamaican people...and built relationships with them. They are wonderful, generous people and they made us feel so welcome in their country!

I will add some more pictures from the trip. There is also a link you can go to if you want to hear more about how God worked in Montego Bay. The link is: www.milesahead.tv.

I will also add an update soon now that I'm in Denver. I officially start my night shifts tomorrow night at The Children's Hospital. I have been here a week now...mainly working on learning my way around and settling into my new home! Pictures of the mountains and my new apartment to come soon!!
